Cultural Equipment

Cultural institutions depend on specialized equipment, such as stage lights and museum storage shelving, to operate effectively. A single computer workstation can transform an organization's ability to reach audiences and serve a community. The annual Cultural Equipment program supports purchase of fixed assets by organizations or local government cultural agencies. Applicants may request up to 100% of the cost, but must demonstrate community support for the project. Heritage, Arts, and Preservation organizations are eligible for Equipment funding separate from the regular Heritage Cultural Facilities program, as are local government agencies. In 2013, 104 organizations requested $863,367 from the Equipment program. 59 organizations received awards ranging from $500 to $10,000 for a total of $249,919. A portion of Lodging Tax revenues collected in King County provides all of the funding for this program
