Description

Mt. Baker Meaningful Movies presents an evening of information and action! We will be showing two short films, "The Story of Climate Change" and "Solutions to Climate Change", for a science update. (Release date: April 2017.)

The films feature:
Mustapha Ali (former Chief Environmental Justice Official at the EPA), Bill McKibben (from http://350.org, Schumann Distinguished Scholar at Middleburg College, Author and winner of the Ghandi Peace Award),
Jim Hansen, (generally considered the world's leading climate scientist, formerly head of the NASA Goddard Inst. for Space Studies),
Katharine Hayhoe (Director of the Climate Science Center at Texas Tech. University),
*Maggie Gyllenhaal, (Actor and Activist), and others who provide updates on the science and solutions to climate change.

The second part of the evening is a presentation from the ALLIANCE FOR JOBS AND CLEAN ENERGY, a broad, diverse, statewide coalition dedicated to reducing climate change, and promoting climate justice. We will hear about the campaign to PUT A PRICE ON CARBON by placing an initiative on the 2018 ballot. We'll have an opportunity to listen, ask questions, discuss, and learn how we each can make a big difference in reducing greenhouse gas emissions (with justice) in Washington State.

LET’S DO THIS! PUT A PRICE ON CARBON IN WASHINGTON, DECREASE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS, GROW OUR ECONOMY WITH JUSTICE, CREATE GOOD JOBS, AND IMPROVE HEALTH!

Special Guests: Ahmed Gaya - Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy Field Director

Co-Sponsors: Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy, Mt Baker Community Club, South Seattle Climate Action Network, Sierra Club and others
