Award-winning filmmaker, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, brings us, “A bracing hour of personal history, struggle and liberation.” (L.A. Times) The Trans List explores the range of experiences lived by Americans who identify as transgender (an umbrella term for people whose gender identity does not conform to that typically associated with the sex they were assigned at birth). No two experiences of trans people are exactly alike. Transgender, transsexual, gender-queer, bi-gender, and non-binary are just a few of the multitude of self-identifiers in the trans community. This film gives a platform to a diverse group of eleven individuals to tell their stories in their own words of their experience with identity, family, career, love, struggle and accomplishment. Among those sharing their stories are an Olympian, a student, a model, a civil rights attorney, a poet, and a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant. A “…poignant documentary (which) promotes respect, empathy, and advocacy.” (Common Sense Media) Doors open at 6 pm for refreshments and conversation. FREE movie and snacks. (Donations gratefully accepted.) GUEST SPEAKER (TBA) and AUDIENCE DISCUSSION. Special Guests: TBA Sponsors: Co-sponsors: South Seattle Climate Action Network, www.southseattleclimate.org Mt. WHERE TO INVADE NEXT is provocative and hilarious! Academy Award-winning director Michael Moore stops at nothing to figure out how to actually "make America great again". Moore confronts the most pressing issues facing America today and finds solutions in the most unlikely places. The creator of FAHRENHEIT 9/11 and BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE has returned with a movie that’s unlike anything he has done before—an eye-opening call to capture the American Dream and restore it in, of all places, America. “One of the most genuinely, and valuably, patriotic films any American has ever made… Optimistic and affirmative, it rests on one challenging but invaluable idea: we can do better.” — Godfrey Cheshire, rogerebert.com Co-Sponsors: Mt.
