Nine years ago, it started as one reading, one script and one show….. Today, that one reading has inspired countless others and blossomed into a festival of its own - celebrating, liberating, encouraging, nurturing a community. Aaina is a South Asian Women’s focused festival, but the energy, the vibe, the power impacts us all. For the three days in April, we will immerse ourselves in the stories, art, discussion, film and during this interaction, you will see yourself reflected in new stories and journeys. March is Women’s History Month, and I feel propitious to be surrounded by some amazing women who inspire me every day. For Aaina 2014 we have 12 amazing, bold, courageous and fun women performing their own stories in Yoni Ki Baat. We are proud to present 5 visual artists who come from as diverse backgrounds as you can imagine! We will premiere a short film by our very own local filmmaker, along with other films. For Youth Voices, we are delighted to have a strong, brave and utterly delightful young women who has been called Seattle’s Smartest Global Women. Come and see how women are helping women “whipping up recipes for success” during SAPWN! Share your own story in Community Speaks! A special shoutout to all our sponsors and mainly Gardner Center for Asian Art & Ideas, Jaipur Avenue Chai, & Disha Studios for their support year after year! Dear friends, supporters and patrons of Tasveer- please join us for 9th Aaina at Seattle Asian Art Museum from April 25-27, 2014!
