Kirkland Greenways, along with Cascade Bicycle Club, will be doing monthly family-friendly bike rides to family-friendly destinations within Kirkland. You do NOT need a kid to participate though. These events are for All Ages and Abilities. The first ride will be along the proposed Rose Hill Greenway from Bridle Trails Shopping Center, 6625 132nd Avenue NE (we will start from right in front of Bridle Trails Red Apple Market) to FlyCaster Brewing Company in Totem Lake (12815 NE 124th St Suite I). This is a mostly flat ride with one or two small hills in each direction that you can easily walk up if you or your kids need to. It is a “no drop” ride which means we will all stay together and nobody gets left behind, no matter what. Flycaster Brewing, Kirkland’s first brewery (thanks to the City of Kirkland, Washington purchasing and building the amazing Cross Kirkland Corridor), has a tasting room which is open to all ages (including kids) and they will have a Mad Dawg’s Hot Dogs food cart available for families to purchase food (or you can bring a picnic or order any other delivery food that you want and get it delivered to their location). We will have prizes and a lot of fun riding on some great safe and comfortable Kirkland neighborhood streets. We are also looking for more business sponsors so if you know of any bike-friendly businesses or businesses who just understand that #BikesMeanBusiness, please pass this event on to them and have them contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you don’t have bikes or can’t swing the ride, just meet us at Flycaster around 1:00 or 1:30ish. Come and hear about how great our ride was while you enjoy a cold beer and hot dog or sausage.
