The uprising in Ferguson, MO in response to the racist murder of Mike Brown has opened new channels for global solidarity. Palestinian activists have expressed their solidarity with the protesters in Ferguson, and some in Ferguson have displayed the Palestinian flag – drawing attention to the parallels between apartheid in Palestine and racism in the United States. Join us to explore the connections between these struggles – from the shared military equipment used by Israeli military forces and local police forces in the U.S., to the similar tactics of resistance people have employed – and to discuss how we can support these struggles and build solidarity in Seattle. The location is downstairs at the University Temple United Methodist Church. To get in, use the Common Good Cafe entrance, between 15th Ave. and University Way, across from the entrance to the University Bookstore parking lot.
