Friday, June 12, 2015, 7:00PM (Open at 6:30 -- visit with our guests & your neighbors) Meaningful Movies of Wallingford presents the film "FINDING HILLYWOOD", with our special guest, Filmmaker LEAH WARSHAWSKI This wonderfully uplifting film, HILLYWOOD, is about a blossoming film community in Rwanda. (The film industry there has been named “Hillywood” for the country’s rolling hills). As Rwanda is still recovering from the wounds of a cultural genocide 20 years ago, cinema has become a way for artists to express themselves and create cultural discussion. This is a stirring documentary that reveals the power of media as a catalyst for cultural healing but also serves as a lesson on Rwandan history. The film’s final act takes a breathtaking final turn as Hillywood connects the people of Rwanda with the goosebumps of seeing their culture represented on the biggest screen possible.
